The Count Down

I’ve tried to figure out a witty way to introduce myself, but as my five month old isn’t sleeping so well, I’m just all out of witty. So instead I decided I’d dive right in.
Four years ago, my food path was forever changed. For reasons that I’m sure I’ll get to in due time, I attended the opening day of the Sergeantsville Farmer’s Market, and my life changed. So I’d like to take you on my adventures, and tell you about my market. I mean, it’s not MY market, but in so many ways it is. As of this post I am FORMALLY adopting it. You’re welcome to come on down and check out my market, or if you’re not local to join us, you can always find your own and adopt a market yourself.
In 9 days the market will open for their 9th season. My family is eagerly waiting for this day. Even my 3 year old daughter is excitedly looking forward to seeing our vendors; and running into old friends that have been absent from our lives since the long cool days of fall.
We are impatiently anticipating the springs bounty of daily succulent salads filled with sweet lettuces, zesty radishes, and anything else we can procure during these early days of spring. And counting the days until my newest addition can begin sampling food through our eyes, and experiences the sweetness of his first locally grown carrot.
In the past 4 years we have gone from your average grocery store family to canning, freezing, local fruits, homemade baby food, and locally raised meats. Our lives, our meals, our tummies have been forever altered. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. So come on over and check out my farmers’ market, meet our family, and stay tuned for our adventures this season.
